Try

Pick a color by hand in your browser

To check a single color yourself, open your browser’s developer tools. In Chrome or Edge, right-click the element and choose Inspect, then click the small color square next to any color value in the Styles pane. The color picker that opens has an eyedropper: click it, then click anywhere on the page to read that pixel’s color.

Firefox has the same tool in the Inspector: the eyedropper button in its toolbar samples any point on the page and copies the hex code. Sampling by hand is good for one color; the extractor above measures the whole page and ranks every color by how much of it it covers.

Color palette questions

Short answers about the free Website Color Palette Extractor.

The page is loaded in a real browser and the colors it paints are measured by how much of the page they cover. Each color gets a best-guess role: background, panel, text, brand, accent or border.

The palette lists colors the page actually uses, ranked by coverage and capped at twelve. Colors inside images or videos, colors that only appear on hover, and colors used on other pages of the site are not counted.

No. It reads the page in the theme a fresh visitor sees by default, usually light. Sites that are dark by default come back dark. A full DESIGN.md covers dark mode when the site has one.

Not as a file. You can copy the hex codes: select a swatch for one, or copy all at once, one per line.

This tool lists colors only. A DESIGN.md covers the colors with their roles, the type scale, spacing and component rules of a site, in one file your coding agent can follow.
